If you want to dance, you should be able to dance, regardless of the size of your parent’s pocketbook.

And three local women are doing what they can to help kids in Cowichan realize their dreams.

They’ve founded the Cowichan Valley Performing Arts Foundation.

One of the founders, Heather Conrad, said they hope the local arts community will come together and help their cause.

“The money is not just specifically for one studio or one type of thing, it is kind of to benefit everyone. We want to open it up and make it a group effort. In terms of, we set it up but we would really like other people involved in the arts, to have a say, and be involved in what we are doing.”

Conrad said they're already planning fundraisers for the Cowichan Valley Performing Arts Foundation and look forward to them in the coming months.

She co-owns a restaurant in Duncan and plans to throw galas and BBQs to raise money for the Foundation.

If you are interested in attending their first information session or being involved in the foundation please email them at CVPerformingArts@yahoo.com
