Charities aren't the only ones receiving donations this time of year.

$100,000 has been donated to Sansum Point, a large piece of property on a peninsula near Duncan.

The 128-acre piece of land was put up for sale earlier this year, and three groups decided to jointly raise money to buy it.

The Cowichan Valley Regional District, the Land Conservancy of BC and Cowichan Land Trust are all working together to raise the almost $400,000 needed for complete ownership.

The original price tag of the land was $1.83 m

The land is home to a vulnerable Douglas fir ecosystem and could provide recreational opportunities in the future
