The Cowichan Tribes are getting a special visitor Thursday night to help the community move forward with positive changes.

Aboriginal actor Adam Beach has been invited to speak at the Tribes' "Embracing Life" forum.

Project manager Stephanie Charlie said they’ll talk about how to help the community start healing in the wake of at least 60 suicide alerts since January.

Beach is the star of Arctic Air, a TV drama series set in Yellowknife.

He's scheduled to be a guest speaker at the meeting July 12, which starts at 5 p.m. at the Si'em Lelum gym.

The Tribes declared a State of Emergency May 8 and since then, there have been at least eight more suicide alert calls adding to the 52 calls reported since January this year.
