NewsFerry hits snag ahead of long weekend
One of the busiest weekends for ferry travel just got a little more crowded. BC Ferries has cancelled some extra sailings today because of mechanical problems with the Queen of New Westminster. Spokesperson Deborah Marshall explained that the 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. sailings from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay are cancelled and the corresponding 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. ferries from Swartz Bay are cancelled. She said the engineers hoped to have the ship back in service by Friday afternoon. BC Ferries put 80 extra sailings on routes between Vancouver Island and the mainland for the May long weekend.
