A gymnast from Cowichan Valley is going to the circus, in Montreal.

Grade nine student Delaney Martin has been chosen as one of only 25 people in the world to go to the National Circus School this year.

She's a member of the Duncan Dynamics Gymnastics Club and Promotions Director Karyne Bailey, told SunFm News it's a huge opportunity for her.

“We are so pleased for her, it is amazing. We are going to miss her like crazy, obviously because she will be gone for the whole year. But, it is really exciting for her to be able to go and join circus school, and experience it for a whole year, and see if that is really what she wants to be doing.”

Martin auditioned in November with a few other club members as a kind of joke, and then was invited back to the final audition in Vancouver in February. Other auditions were held simultaneously in Buenos Aires, Paris, Toronto and Montreal.

She will head to the 'circus' boarding school with her parents to check it out this August.
