NewsRock of the Woods announces line-up
One of Cowichan Valley's summer music festivals is taking shape; Rock of the Woods has announced its line-up. Event creator, Dave Bains, told SunFM News some serious talent is coming to the Valley. “Pickwick is a name that not many people will know in B.C. yet, but they are a band out of a Seattle, a six piece kind of soul rock Indy band you would call them, they are playing Sasquatch and Bonnaroo this year, to give you a sort of example of how big they are in the states, but have yet to play BC.” Also in the lineup some strong BC bands like Rococode and the British Columbians. The festival is trying to be entirely green; Bain said they're not even going to use electricity. “This year we are attempting to make it 100 % off the grid, and it is looking like we are going to be able to do that. Essentially all the power will be run by bio-diesel.” As well, all food vendors will have compostable containers, knives and forks and the beer garden will serve cold ones in cans that can be recycled. There will also be yoga Saturday and Sunday mornings and lots to do with the kids around the festival site. This year the festival is being moved from Bamberton to Glenora Farm, a non-profit farm for those living with disabilities. A portion of all profits will go to the farm. Festival runs the weekend of July 27-29th. Similar StoriesMost Viewed Stories
