It's bound to be all things you've come to expect from Salt Spring Island: A nine-day art extravaganza focusing on 40 artists kicks off June 29 evening at ArtSpring hall.

it’s the third annual Fine Art Signature Showcase, but the first year ceramic artist Kathy Venter and her husband, Deon Venter, a painter, are planning to take part.

Venter said she’s been part of the Salt Spring Island community for 24 years and

Affected the livelihood of artists worldwide,

“The artists are moving together on Salt Spring because of the severity of the economic situation, and they’re starting to work together in a wonderful, rich, supportive manner, and we want to be part of this.”

The Art Signature Showcase includes a juried show, in which the artists judge each others' work.

The opening reception is Friday starting at 5 p.m. and the exhibit opens daily at 10:00 a.m. until July 7.
