Duncan/North Cowichan RCMP are taking credit for stopping a rave near Chemainus on Saturday night.

The RCMP found people setting up equipment at the Chemainus River Park and told them to remove it.

RCMP members returned later that night and discovered the organizers had moved the rave to another area off Hillcrest Rd. 

The police took only one woman into custody for being drunk in public.

According to the RCMP, setting up parties in parks is a risk to public safety.  

They said they would continue to patrol park areas throughout the summer months.
