There was a string of vehicle-related incidents last week in Ladysmith, some involving young drivers coming out of a rave on Spruston Rd.

In the early morning hours following St. Patrick's Day, one vehicle carrying six people went off the road and rolled over. Four were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The RCMP are recommending charges against the driver.

The police later conducted a road check in the same area the following night and stopped 200 vehicles, many of them being new drivers. The Ladysmith RCMP and South Island Traffic Services investigated various alcohol related offences.

Also on St. Patrick’s Day, a motorcycle lost control after running a red light at the intersection of the Trans Canada and Thicke Rd. and was thrown from his bike. The motorcycle was later hit by a car on the road.

Police said the motorcycle driver, 49, is facing several charges, including having no driver's license, no insurance, and failing to stop at a red light.
