Four rugby players from Shawnigan Lake are calling their trip to England quite the experience.

They were handpicked for Canada's U-17 Rugby team in England. The team competed in the Wellington Rugby Festival.

Shawnigan athlete and Team Canada Captain Oliver Nott believes the athletes really showed their worth.

”The Shawnigan guys did well; all four of them started the last game against France. They all played really well, they played to their potential and they really showed their skills to the coaches as well.”

Nott told SunFM News that although the lost they will take home a lot from the experience.

“I think it was good for us to lose, because we learnt a lot and it almost acclimatized us to the level of play that we had to play ourselves. And I think exposing us to that level really benefited us as we went into the tournament at Wellington.”

Back to regular life and class schedules, the boys join their high school team and take on the Cowichan T-birds on the pitch this week.
