Fifty-five street signs with poppies with soon dot the district of North Cowichan and the city of Duncan.

The poppy street sign project was set to be unveiled Thursday at the Royal Canadian Legion branch on Kenneth St. in Duncan.

Poppies will appear on the signs beside names of WWI and WWII battles, such as Cambrai, St. Julian, Festubert.

The initiative coincides with Legion Week, which culminates with Legion Day on Saturday. It’s a chance to show the public the programs and services Legionnaires are involved in.

The Legion celebrates 86 years of service with some 63,000 members in 155 communities throughout British Columbia and the Yukon.
