Shawnigan Lake RCMP are investigating a case of road rage between two men earlier this week.

The men, both in their late 30s, got into it at the intersection of Highway #1 and Cobble Hill Rd. just after 2:00 p.m. on July 2.

One driver felt the other had cut in front of him and apparently the two men exchanged rude hand gestures.

When they were stopped at a traffic light, one driver, 38, approached the other and a verbal confrontation escalated into a physical one, with one allegely hitting the other in the leg with a club.

It ended with one of them falling backwards into traffic and being struck by a passing pick up truck, traveling at a slow speed.

Paramedics examined the man and released him.

The investigation is ongoing, and Shawnigan Lake RCMP said they are considering charges against both men.
