It's not every day you can say someone breaking in to a building may have been a good thing.

The RCMP were called to the Salvation Army in Duncan July 18 after a witness reported seeing two men trying to pry open the front door of the building on Trunk Rd.

When the RCMP arrived, they didn't find anybody trying to break in, but members noticed smoke coming from the roof.

The Duncan Fire Dept. was called and found material burning. Apparently there was some work being done on the roof during the day.

The fire was put it out quickly and determined to be not suspicious.

The police said the building was not broken into and there was no damage to the Salvation Army.
