If you think gas prices are bad now, you could be in for a summer of staying home or taking public transit. How about that bike?

Some Cowichan Valley residents woke up today to a 12-cent increase overnight.

Prices in Duncan and Mill Bay were 137.9 a litre, while it was only 127.9 a litre in Ladysmith. Our Vancouver neighbours paid over 150.0 a litre this week, well above the national average 127.2 a litre.

Some experts state the closure of BP's Cherry Point refinery in Washington is leading to the higher prices in western Canada.

Valley residents will likely need to make some tough choices in the coming months about how much gas they use.
