The province may not be sanctioning a designated police patrol for the Malahat, but police are still out looking for speeders.

Members from the Capital Regional District caught a motorcyclist going over 130 km/h in an 80 zone on the Bamberton Hill Tuesday morning.

The police say the man from Cobble Hill, 57, got a ticket for $368 and when they did a check on his driving record, it showed he had been stopped along the same stretch earlier this year.

On the same day, they stopped a 19-year-old novice driver from Nanaimo near the Goldstream Park. He was also going 130 km/h in an 80 km/hzone. Police gave him the same ticket and impounded his vehicle.

The B.C. government is installing concrete median along 5.4 km of Malahat this year but the province has refused to fund a police force designated specifically for the high-risk corridor.
