NewsBuy Local! Buy Fresh! map is back
From Shawnigan Lake to Cedar, dozens of farms and shops spot the Cowichan Valley boasting locally made, grown or raised products. For the third year in a row, the Cowichan Green Community is unveiling a Buy Local! Buy Fresh! map to show people where to go for those products, including everything from beef to honey. The executive director at CGC, Judy Stafford, said the popular maps are used by locals and tourists. “It’s used locally by people that live here who want to know where they can get specific items throughout the year it’s also turned into quite a tourist attraction where people who are just coming to visit the valley pick one up and then go see different places to visit in the Valley.” Fourteen farms are added to this year's map, along with restaurants, markets and shops, all with the aim of promoting food security. “You really don’t have to leave the valley to get the food that you want to eat,” Stafford points out. The CGC has printed 10,000 copies, which will be distributed at farms and tourist destinations around the valley. Similar StoriesMost Viewed Stories
