A rollover in Shawnigan Lake sent two men to the hospital with minor injuries.

The Shawnigan Lake RCMP said the accident occurred when the driver got distracted; apparently he had reached down to grab some items and swerved off the road.

Cpl. Jason Kerr said two 18-year-old men were heading north on Nightingale Rd. on June 29 when they went off the road, hit two meridians at an intersection, knocked over a light and went through a ditch before re-entering the highway and then hitting a centre meridian.

Then it rolled over.

The driver was given a violation ticket.

The Trans-Canada Highway in Shawnigan Lake was down to one lane and impeded for about 45 minutes while crews cleaned up the debris.
