NewsMobile MRI for Cowichan needs truck driver
Come this fall, Cowichan will be the part-time home of some state of the art equipment. A mobile Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) service will be shared between the Cowichan District Hospital and hospitals in Campbell River, the Comox Valley, Port Alberni. The Vancouver Island Health Authority is now looking to hire a transportation company to move the unit between the four Island communities. VIHA says the job takes extra care because in part, because it is valued at $2 million. MRIs have been used more and more in recent years as they become more effective in diagnosing injuries and diseases. And the new mobile unit means patients in Cowichan will no longer have to go to Nanaimo or Victoria for routine MRI exams. It will be set up on special pads at Cowichan District starting in October. The RFP for the transportation contract closes July 27. www.bcbid.ca. Similar StoriesMost Viewed Stories
