Cowichan Bay Rd.has re-opened to traffic Friday after signs were up for two days indicated the road was closed because of flooding.
Despite signs saying 'road closed' and a big pool of water, some motorists continued to drive through.
Cowichan Bay Fire Chief Ken Bulcock said Wednesday that inevitably someone gets stuck, as was the case that morning when a van’s engine stalled and it couldn’t pull out of the puddle.
In the past, fire departments have used dinghies and ropes to help fish people out, but they've stopped using those risky methods.
Apparently, four-wheel drive vehicles are used more often to rescue people from the flooded Cowichan Bay Rd.
