Water restriction ends for North Cowichan residents

Thursday, May 10, 2012 - 1:20 PM
By SunFM News staff
North Cowichan

If you've been holding off on watering the plants in the yard, you don't have to wait any longer.

The district of North Cowichan has called off the water restrictions, one day ahead of schedule.

The municipality expected to have the restrictions in place until May 11 at 4 p.m., but crews finished repairs to the main pump house before noon on May 10. Thousands of homes were on a back-up water supply and residents were being asked to refrain from using water outside and to cut back on use inside.

Repairs included replacing a 35-year-old main header pipe at the pump house, which was apparently leaking. The district doesn’t expect to impose another water restriction in the near future.
