It may have been loud and noisy and at times disorderly, but local police say Sunfest festivities didn’t get too heated over the long weekend.

Except for one incident, according to Cpl. Jon Stuart.

“There was a fire at a trailer reported over the weekend that’s still being investigated. It appears it was a 'set' fire but that hasn’t been confirmed.”

Stuart said the RCMP took 16 drunk people into custody, which he referred to as an average number considering there was a crowd of 6,000 people at any given time.

“It was a big party weekend but people were fairly well behaved, everything taken into account.

Organizers are estimating Sunfest goers injected $1 million into the Cowichan economy over the August long weekend.

They’ve already announced next year's headliner: Alan Jackson will perform at Sunfest 2013, to be held from Aug. 1 to 4.
