The RCMP are looking for suspects after the Royal Canadian Legion in Chemainus was broken into and cash stolen Aug. 6.

Cpl. Jon Stuart said the police believe the crime was committed at about midnight Monday night.

“Wires had been cut disabling the alarm, then they had pried the door, made their way into the Legion and from there they had removed a pull tab machine from the wall, and there was a fair bit of damage inside the Legion as well.”

Stuart wouldn’t say how much money was taken.

The police are asking anyone who may have seen something suspicious in the area to contact them 250-748-5522 or Crimestoppers 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
