A man accused of robbing a store in downtown Duncan on the weekend is being kept in jail.

Ryan Gunold will remain in custody until July 17, when he’s scheduled to have a bail hearing, according to the Duncan courthouse.

Gunold, 30, has been charged with several offences, including robbery, wearing a mask with the intent to commit a crime and assault with a weapon.

The RCMP said he went into Heritage Pawn Brokers on Whistler St. in Duncan on July 7, assaulted four people with bear spray, took some gold and diamond jewelry and fled in a BMW.

He was caught later on Saturday, but on Monday, police were still waiting for a search warrant to retrieve stolen items from the vehicle.
