A dog is to thank for reuniting a wallet with its owner.

Duncan police received a called, around 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning, from someone whose wallet had been stolen from their car on Francis. St.

The victim saw a man fleeing and was able to give police a full description.

A police dog, Tony, and his handler were the first to arrive on scene.

Tony caught a scent, and got to work tracking the suspect. He caught up with him across the Trans Canada Hwy, along the railway tracks heading north to Buckerfields.

Another RCMP detachment had also caught up with the man and had him in handcuffs, but the suspect had thrown the wallet away while running.

So, it was back to work for Tony who retraced the route, and managed to sniff out the wallet and its content in some bushes.

The wallet was returned to its owner.

34-year-old, Robert Oset of Duncan has been charged with theft under $5,000 for stealing the wallet.
