Commuters heading in and out of Nanaimo Tuesday night were doing so at a crawl.

A single-vehicle accident on the Trans-Canada Hwy at around 5:30 p.m. had one lane blocked in either direction.

Sandy called into SunFM and said it appeared the rain was a factor in the crash.

“It looks like she spun out, she’s facing the wrong way, and her front is completely destroyed.”

She added that the driver was receiving attention from paramedics at the scene.

Another caller Shannon said the car was being towed away but the accident had displaced the centre medians and it looked like it would be a while before crews could get the dividers back in place.

The SUV was heading southbound when the incident occurred just outside of Nanaimo.
