Cowichan chapter of the Cancer Society has been getting local businesses and organizations ready to fundraise during Daffodil Days and Cancer Awareness Month.

Chris Gale with the Cancer Society said he and some 300 volunteers have been hitting the pavement for the big yellow blitz.

“I’ve spent the last three or four days putting pin boxes… all over town. There’s about 160 boxes out there—they are the little daffodil pins,” he explained. “We had them out last year. They sold really, really well.”

Businesses looking for a daffodil box can call the Cowichan chapter of the Cancer Society, but Gale said Wednesday that they were almost out of the boxes.

Some 350 people were expected to be at a luncheon Wednesday at the Eagles Hall to kick off Daffodil Days, which culminates on Apr. 27.
