Woman accused of stealing from Cowichan Tribes in court

A local woman accused of stealing from her employer is in court in Duncan this week to face a charge of theft over $5,000.

Ernestine Elliot worked for the Cowichan Tribes and allegedly stole the money from the Salmon Enhancement Project account between May 2004 and June 2007.

Elliott was charged in Sept. 2010 and has appeared in court several times since.

The trial continues Thursday in Duncan.
