Sawmills in Chemainus, Ladysmith and Cowichan Bay will be taking a closer look at how they can control combustible dust.

WorkSafeBC is sending a risk assessment order directly to all mills in the province over the next day after a second explosion in three months at a mill in B.C.

After looking at the risks, the mills are required to develop and implement a program to control combustible dust. WorkSafeBC will do a follow-up inspection on more than 300 mills by May 9.

Two people died in an explosion at a sawmill in Prince George this week.

The owner of Cowichan Valley mills, Western Forest Products, has said they will cooperate with the WorkSafe BC order.
