It's out of the hands of the Shawnigan Lake RCMP and now under the investigation of the BC Coroners Service.

Coroner Barb McLintock said her office will do an autopsy on a man who died in a scuba diving incident south of Bamberton on Saturday, before releasing his identity.

Shawnigan Lake RCMP responded to the incident at about 3 p.m., as the dive was close to Mill Bay and the man was brought to the Brentwood Bay marina.

Spokesperson Cpl. Darren Lagan said the RCMP deemed the incident not suspicious and handed the case over to the Coroners Service.

McLintock explained that three experienced divers were on a recreational dive when one ran into problems.

The deceased man is from Victoria and is said to have worked at CFB Esquimalt.
