Two accidents block traffic on Hwy 1 at Mays Rd.

Tuesday, August 14, 2012 - 2:05 PM
By Natasha Riebe

Not one but two accidents on the Trans-Canada Highway near Mays Rd. had traffic backed up Tuesday afternoon.

The first one involved three vehicles and happened before 1 p.m.

An eyewitness told SunFM News there was lots of debris in the southbound passing lane.

As emergency vehicles were at the scene and traffic was bottlenecked at the intersection, a woman driving a silver car was hit from behind by a white truck.

Southbound traffic was blocked at Mays Rd. from about 1:30 p.m. because of the second accident.

At least one person was taken away on a stretcher, but police were not confirming whether anyone was seriously injured in either accident.
